After the success of 'Staying Up Late', Cheerbleederz asked me to make a follow up music video to coincide with the release of their second EP 'Lobotany'.
Continuing with the playful cut out aesthetic (and with a cameo from Staying Up Late's protagonist), I developed a storyline from Sophie's wistful lyrics, transforming the decorative plants adorning the EP cover and promo material into anthropomorphised characters.
Like with 'Staying Up Late', I wanted to capture the way in which Cheerbleederz treat themes like anxiety and loneliness with an innocuous sweetness. I see this one as somewhere between 'The Day of the Triffids' and Stephen King's 'Carrie', except reimagined by Eric Carle.
